Who we are

What we collect

Cliptor collects only what it needs to run your personal saved-content library:

• Your email address, used to sign you in with a magic link (there are no passwords).
• The clips, articles, notes, and URLs you save, and content derived from them — extracted text, transcripts, AI-generated descriptions of visible video content, categories, summaries, and search embeddings.
• Basic usage activity, such as which saved library items you open, so the library can organise and surface your content.
• The questions you ask in chat and the answers Cliptor generates, stored on our servers so your conversations are still there when you come back.
• Your AI-sharing consent decision — whether you agreed, when you agreed, and, if you later withdraw it, when you withdrew it.
• Any feedback you choose to submit.

Why we collect it

We use this data to authenticate you, to store your saved content and let you browse and search your own library, and to improve the product. We do not show advertising, and we do not sell your data.

Third-party processors

Cliptor relies on a small number of third-party services that process data on its behalf. Its AI features — transcribing clips, describing visible video content, generating summaries and categories, building search embeddings, and answering your questions in chat — run on OpenRouter, which routes each request to the model that handles it; for chat that model is Google Gemini, with Google acting as the model operator. Two further processors, described here by function rather than by name, fetch clip and public article data and send your login emails. These providers act only as processors carrying out those functions for the app; they are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

AI features and your data

When you ask Cliptor’s chat a question, this is exactly what leaves the app:

• Your question.
• Only the saved items picked as sources for that particular answer — at most eight of them, never your whole library.
• Sent to OpenRouter, and from there to Google as the model operator, for the single purpose of writing the answer you asked for.
• Nothing is used to train models.

Cliptor asks for your permission before it sends anything to those providers, and it will not use chat until you agree. You can take that permission back at any time in the app, under Settings → AI CHAT → Withdraw AI consent. Chat then stops and asks again the next time you open it.

Saving an item uses AI too, and it is worth being plain about it. When you save a clip or an article, its audio, text, and visible video content are sent to OpenRouter to be transcribed, described, summarised, sorted into categories, and turned into the search embeddings that make your library searchable; a separate service, described above by function, fetches the clip or article in the first place. That processing is what turns a link into a library item, so it runs when you choose to save something rather than behind a separate prompt — but the same rules apply: these providers act only on Cliptor’s behalf, and nothing sent to them is used to train models.

Retention & your rights

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists, with one exception: stored chat history is capped at your 50 most recent exchanges, and older ones are removed automatically as you keep chatting. You can permanently delete your account and its associated data at any time — that includes your chat history and your AI-sharing consent record.
